About Me

waliyulah-olayiwolaHello! My name is Waliyulah Olayiwola.

I am a writer from Ibadan, Nigeria.

I started writing in 2011, my first year in the University. Back then, I was still struggling with English language syntax (set of rules that govern how words are combined to form phrases and sentences). As such, my writing was poor, but I persisted and a miracle happened.

Over the years, my prowess grew beyond my wildest expectation.

I, an engineering student, became the president of campus journalists and writers in my school, wrote a book of my own, wrote a script (Write Like a Pro: 17 Writing Secrets of High Flying Writers), won three essay prizes, conducted and invited to several seminars to impact, get featured in several magazines and blogs, called to be a judge in essay and oratorical contests, helped promote people’s idea, all with my literal prowess.

Hmm, what else? I have a mark, like the logo of Nike brand, by the side of my head from a car accident my mum and I had when I was just a 3 month baby. My fragile head split opened and the doctors said I had only 24 hours to live.

Three decades later, all those miserable doctors are dead and the only person relating that story is me. In addition, I now have a wife and a baby of my own, a daughter around that age – Yusrah.

I love and enjoy public speaking, a lot.
